North Shore rental agent needed

Can anyone recommend a good rental agent to line up a legal vacation rental on the North Shore? I am leery of dealing directly with an owner, because I want to be sure the place is clean, does not smell, security deposit is handled professionally, etc. Thanks.

Try the Honolulu Board of Realtors. On their website there is a link to rental properties. When you click on the link it will show a map of Oahu with the different areas denoted. If most rentals are long term as least it will give you some names of agents that can point you in the right direction.

Your desire to find a legal rental is admirable. Your quest to find an agent may take a little time.

According to the recent list prepared by the Planning Dept there are only some 34 ';legal'; Transient Vacation Rentals along the North Shore outside of the Turtle Bay Resort (from Kahuku to Kaena Point).

See page 17 of the following link. Those with Tax Mape Keys (the first column on left) begining with 5-9 through 6-8 are in the area you are looking at. Almost all are vacation homes or cottages. A lot are probably VRBO.

You might try to Google some of the addresses, but the Hawaii street numbering system sometimes causes problems. Or, if you want a condo, you might try the office of the Mokuleia Beach Colony and they will be able to hook you up.

At least you will know if the home or unit an agent is trying to put you in is legit.
