November on the Big Island

I just stumbled across what appears to be a great deal for air/hotel at the Hapuna Prince in early November. As I will be celebrating my 50th birthday, I%26#39;m quite tempted, but haven%26#39;t been to Hawai%26#39;i before, and am wondering if there is a reason for the (relatively) cheap rates. What can I expect for weather conditions? Is this a big hurricane risk? Are they still in the midst of remodeling the hotel? I read they were in the process this summer, but am hopeful that this would be at least close to completed by November. The hotel has received great reviews, even in the midst of the renovations, so I am giving it some serious consideration. I have travelled to Mexico and the Carribean in the off-season, how does Hawai%26#39;i compare, weather-wise? As I would be travelling with a friend, I am also wondering how two women are going to be received. I know that Hawai%26#39;i is known for romance - are those of us who are non-couples going to feel out of place?

November on the Big Island

Hawaii is not known for hurricanes, I think we had three in the past 20 years. The weather is prety much the same year around up North. No, you will not feel out of place, Hawaii is not just a honeymoon destination. Enjoy your vacation!

Do it!!! I travel around the islands alone and with my adult daughter when DH is working.. no issues... Never feel out of place, never feel unsafe. Hapuna Prince is a very nice hotel on a very nice beach and the renovations (which I thought were just about done) was in the common area... Enjoy!!!

I agree, do it. Hapuna is where we always stay when on the BI. Would you mind sharing where you found your deal?

An EXCELLENT time to come. I would not hesitate ... the only danger is you%26#39;ll be spoiled once you visit Hawai%26#39;i and not be happy in Mexico any more!

What K says about being spoiled is true. We always choose the longer flight from the east coast to Hawaii rather than a shorter flight to the caribbean. For us there is no comparison.
