1st time to Hawaii

My husband and I are travelling to Hawaii for the first time in April 09 for about 12/13 days. We%26#39;ve done a bit of reading but still cant decide where to go.

Ideally, we want to spend some time on the Big Island to see the volcano and go whale watching and then spend some time on Oahu but cant decide whether to stay on Waikiki Beach or Turtle bay (?? - how far apart are they?) and then spend some time on Maui. Is this do-able?

we are in our mid 20%26#39;s and want to experience everything Hawaii has to offer.

Would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Plz read the threads about Turtle Bay Resort and it%26#39;s possible bankruptcy.

I could be wrong, but, the whales will have gone back north by April.

Three islands in 13 days is do-able. Since you are coming from so far away I can understand why you would want to see as many islands as possible. Personally I would go to Oahu, Kauai (for that old Hawaii, tropical feel) and BI for the volcano.

I would stay in Waikiki while on Oahu and on all islands you will need a rental car. IMHO.

you know ,asking the very same question that people took time to answer is not going to get you points

The last of the whales leave around May 1. So early April there will still be plenty of whales.

Maui is the best island for whale watching.

With only 12/13 days, you have time for 3 islands, but you%26#39;ll have to skip some of the things to do on each island. Maybe just a couple of days on Big Island, Hilo side to see Hawaii Volcanoes National Park %26amp; some of the nice waterfalls %26amp; other scenery on that side of the island.

Oahu is the only island where you can get to many of the tourist attractions by public transportation.

Lots of info including sites with free brochures for all islands:

Look up pacificwhale.org

Lots of info on whale watching and tours/costs. I found out that they book whale watching tours up till May 15.
