I got what I would consider to be a great rate from Alamo using Costco. I booked an SUV for 9.5 days for $321 including all taxes and charges. That was far better than anything else I had found and boy, did I search!

Lougee, don%26#39;t keep us in suspenders!! Please share these prices with us!!

Just wanted to say ';thanks'; for your posts about car rentals. I%26#39;m not at that point yet but it%26#39;s nice to know it%26#39;s one thing I don%26#39;t have to spend weeks researching. LOL

keep checking --- this past april a got a smaller suv for 7 days for 120.87 incl all taxes etc --keep looking

The thing I love about car rentals, is that if you find a better price, you can cancel your reservation with no penalty! I have also had good luck with Costco, but I start with Orbitz, so I can what the general rates are at all the main companies. Then I go through Costco to the company with the best rate. I can usually save at least another 10-15%. Then I continue to check rates about once a month, just to see if anyone has come down at all.

Thanks! I didn%26#39;t think I could do any better, but I just rebooked for 14 days for $247 (includes taxes and fees) My best price so far was $262! I%26#39;ll have a drink and toast you, Lou!

Lougee, thanks for the advice. I%26#39;ll keep on checkin%26#39;!

I just got my midsize rental for 9 days (starting this Tuesday) down another few dollars to $181.25.

Don%26#39;t think I%26#39;m gonna beat that. Just hoping it will be enough space for my family of 5 while we%26#39;re there. I just can%26#39;t justify the price they are asking for a minivan or SUV.

Is that going to be enough room for your family plus luggage? I don%26#39;t know how you all pack but knowing us, we will have at least 4 bags plus my DH%26#39;s clubs. I know we always overpack so we are extreme but we will definitely need an SUV. I wanted a convertible, but I had to part with that idea...sniff, sniff
