Hire a Car or taxi/bus on Oahu

i%26#39;m hoping to spend 5 or 7 days on oahu in december. just wondering if its best to hire a car for the whole time or just for a coupole of days...or wether buses/taxis%26#39; would be better?

Hoping to stay in a b%26amp;b at kailua area...how much would a taxi from the airport be?

Also hoping to spend some time in honolulu waikiki and see pearl harbour.

If you are staying in Kailua, you need to rent a car the entire time.

It would probably cost $50-$60 one way for cab fare from airport to Kailua.

If you stay in Waikiki, then you can get by with renting a car just a couple of days.
