Mountain Bike Race along Power Line Trail, July 4th?

Hi folks,

Does anyone have any information on this race? Hubby is interested since we will be on Kauai July 4th, 2009. I cannot find any information on the web. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Mountain Bike Race along Power Line Trail, July 4th?

That would be a great challange, and loads of fun and exercise.

Just as a suggestion, since we have not heard about this until now....

Betcha you could get exact info, or at least, who to contact that is sponsoring the bike race, by calling the local bike rental folks.

Kauai Cylce: 808-821-2115

Outfitters: 742-7421

peddle and paddle: 826-9069

Will also keep an ear and eye out for you, so if I do find out anything, can let you know.

We get all kinds of flyers for events posted at the gym.

We haved hiked the power line trail from both ends, but not all the way one way. July would be a great month and pretty dry.

I would think they would start at the arboretum at the end of kuamoo road, and end up with a down hill ride that winds up on the north shore, not far from the princeville airport. WAG on my part, just seems sensible.

What a great idea for a bike race. Sorely needed on this island.

And of course a fun awards presentation party at the end.

Thanks, Denny. I think we are pretty far out. I found information on the PARADISE RIDE KAUAI ~ AUGUST 9 - 10, 2008 but that was more of a long distance club ride (55 miles each day) Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Aloha from Kaua%26#39;i!

Paradise Ride is a yearly benefit for Malama Pono - which is our local group to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS, STDs and infectious Hepatitis on Kauai through education and to serve those persons infected with or affected by these diseases - it is a big yearly race and goes all over the whole island - this year it ended up in Lihu`e after going down here to the South Shore as well as up North.

The 4th of July bicycle ride up Powerline Trail is also a yearly event - I found this info online about it: ';The powerline race is usually @ 9:00 am, but that%26#39;s subject to change. Contact John @ The Bike Doktor in Hanalei for more info closer to the race day';

Malama Pono,

Janet

Aloha from Kaua`i!

Here is some more info:

Don%26#39;t know whose phone number that is, but sounds like a contact person for it.

Malama Pono,

Janet

Koloagirl,

Thanks! Hubby is on the island now and I%26#39;ll send him this information. We decided to make Independence Day on the island an annual event. A lot more fun than here on the mainland.
