How far of a drive it is from this hotel to the volcano that you go to at night. We are thinking of renting a car but not sure if it is worth it

You have probably figured this out by now, but you%26#39;re on the wrong forum. Hapuna and the volcano are on the big island of hawaii, not maui. In answer to your question, it%26#39;s a LONG way.

Even tho you asked in the wrong forum, I%26#39;ll answer in the wrong forum too. We stayed at the Hilton Waikaloa and drove to the volcano. It took us 3 hours to get there. We probably spent another 3 hours checking out the area down to the parking area at the bottom of the hill and walking around on the lava. Then another 3 hour drive to get back to our hotel. I don%26#39;t think I%26#39;d like the drive at night. At least during the day you can see the ocean and countryside along the way.
