What is best time to go, best place to stay, what to expect. Looking forward to relaxing beach vacation %26amp; checking out to usual tourist stuff! Thanks for any help.

first....get the book Hawaii for dummies... I dont think Disney has any property here....

Get a map.

Learn that each island is totaly different from the other ... there are 6 main islands... establish what islands

extablish a budget...2500 a day or $200 a day

establish length of stay.

each island has a left menu with hotels, activites.. use it

Use the search function for topics before you ask a question on the fourm and reams may be written/

Good luck

Help with planning trip

HawaiiDan - I believe I read that Disney bought a fairly large parcel on Oahu.

Cook2066 - you have posted on the island of Hawaii, which is also known as the Big Island. Do you already know the island you want to go to or are you searching for that?? What other things do you like to do? Each island is unique and different. You might want to repost on the Hawaii forum. Good luck! :)

A new book that is even better than the Dummies book (which is quite good) is No Worries Hawaii. Definitely read a book if you are starting from scratch (have never been and don%26#39;t know much about the islands).

Put an hour into a book and you%26#39;ll learn the exact info you need, and for anyone to really answer your question they would have to sit down and write a book or at least a long essay from scratch, so you may as well read material that%26#39;s already there for you ...

I like the ';No Worries Hawaii'; book - it is fun and informative, makes you think and gives you things to think about. However, as with most, has a few boo-boos%26#39; in it - albeit little ones. It does not lead you into kapu territory and seems to provide a modicum of respect for where you are going - same time it offers checklists that do manage to cover the general basics.

Otherwise there is another %26#39;quiz%26#39; out there, but in my opinion no one book will answer all your questons. Several from your local library or ordered for your personal scribbling (I like to scribble), or spend copious amounts of time here on TA.

Lots of info including sites with free brochures for all islands:

Get the best guidebook out there: The Big Island Revealed! It%26#39;s published by Wizard Publications. Be sure to get the latest edition (5th) so you have the most up to date info.

From a traveler%26#39;s POV, it is the best guidebook out there and covers the whole spectrum of concerns that visitors may have.

From a local%26#39;s POV, there were some places listed in the book%26#39;s previous releases that were off-limits to visitors because of property rights. Just don%26#39;t believe all that negative hype you may come across because the off-the-beaten-path places that are in contention are such a small portion of what this book represents.

Oh, and one more thing, do NOT leave the book in your rental car in plain sight while on-island.

Thanks to you all for your help! I will be checking out those books. I guess I really need to do alot of research!!!! Thanks again.
