I know visitors to the Island love to go to Honaunau Bay to snorkel. I have relatives on this beautiful island, and they are very dissapointed in the way that some visitors do NOT respect the signs that are posted. The signs say do NOT get too close to the dolphins and Sea Turtles (Honu). The dolphins come into Honaunau Bay to rest, and to sleep. But we see snorkelers trying to touch them, and swim with them. The dolphins will put on a great show, by spinning etc., but the Hawaiian people get very annoyed that the dolphins are not allowed to rest. Also please respect the posting of signs, that say do not litter. Accross the bay is the City of Refuge, and it is still considered a Sacred site. So PLEASE respect the Hawaiian people%26#39;s land (Aina) Mahalo

Snorkeling in Honaunau Bay
Trust me, this has been gone over numerous times on this board and everyone is in agreement. Unfortunately, there will always be some fool who will do what they aren%26#39;t supposed to. Fortunately, people that come to this forum for information generally want to be educated and understand the damage they are doing.
