What is your favorite week in October and why? We have visited Oahu in Oct several times - all good. One October the waves at Waimea were so gentle, they placed you right onto the shore. Last year, we went late in October and it was the opposite (bad shore break). I%26#39;m having a hard time deciding exactly when to book our stay. It seems like it is a little nicer in the first part of Oct than the end. If I remember right, it is a little warmer and more flowers are blooming. Are there any other reasons to pick a certain week in October? We spend most of our time at the beach. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Best week in October?
You%26#39;re right. Usually the first part of October, the North Shore has little surf. By the end of October starts much bigger surf. But when the North Shore surf picks up in winter, the south beaches are calmer
Don%26#39;t know about when flowers bloom. But, mid-October starts the rainy season. Doesn%26#39;t mean it will rain more, but there is more of a chance it will.
With rain comes better waterfalls.
By the end of October there will have been some humpback whale sightings around the islands.
Best week in October?
We%26#39;ve gone to Hawaii in October for the last 3 years and are going again this coming October. woo hoo! The 1st year (Big Island) we went toward the end of October and it was nice weather-wise. The 2nd year (Oahu) we went in mid-October and it was on the cooler side. Nights were in the low 70%26#39;s. Still not bad but I definitely needed a light sweater at night.
Plus, the year we went earlier in October we found out that some states have some sort of ';fall break'; for their schools in early-mid October, so that year there were kids running all over the place, jumping and splashing in the pool and generally making pests of themselves since there didn%26#39;t seem to be any parents around to control them. If you don%26#39;t mind kids and noise I guess that%26#39;s not something to schedule your vacation around, but hubby and I like to relax around the pool and at the beach - which just wasn%26#39;t possible with so many kids all over the place. So the following year (last year - Maui) we scheduled our trip for the end of October. This year we are going to Kauai, again at the end of October.
Just something else to keep in mind.
We have always gone in Octber when we went (including next month) and have really only had one spot of trouble. Last visit we went to Kauai and did the coast boat tour. As luck would have the day we went was the first day that season that we could not snorkel due to higher waves....other than that we have always had great weather and resonable surf conditions on any island we have gone to.
