Pacific Whale Foundation -- should i cancel

i booked a boat ride out to see the whales next thusday knowing it at the tail end of the season

got a phone call the other day cancelling my tour and offering me to another one -- im having a feeling that their combining 2 tours on 1 boat will make for a crowded boat --- i can still cancel and get my money back -------------what do you think i should do

Pacific Whale Foundation -- should i cancel

pick a smaller company Lou...

Pacific Whale Foundation -- should i cancel

Cancel and get your money back and find a smaller company. You%26#39;re already having doubts. Otherwise you%26#39;ll be kicking yourself while on that crowded boat!

Cancel it and take a sunset dinner or cocktail cruise. I%26#39;ve really enjoyed those. Whales will be few and far between at this point and it%26#39;s not worth getting your hopes up. I prefer the trips out of Maalea.

I%26#39;d cancel. I%26#39;ve never used them before, but read so many posts about how they pack %26#39;em in. Doesn%26#39;t sounds like fun to me. How about a snorkel catamaran trip with Trilogy?

i cancelled --- are there any whales still out there this late in the season -- no snorkeling whales only any recommends

it is getting very late in the whale season but you should be able to find a few around.

One of the things all must understand is that much like the airlines, fuel cost is a major cost to the boat operator. The choice of running 2 less than 1/2 full charters vs combining the passengers to a single run cuts the fuel %26amp; labor costs in half. It is getting to be a choice of consolidation of the charters in the slower times or raising the prices to justify the costs.

It%26#39;s a vacation for you but a business for the boat operators. If the business doesn%26#39;t make money, you won%26#39;t have the boat available next time you come to watch whales/snorkel/dive/sail....ECON 101.

we were there april 5-13 and had scheduled a early morning trip with pwf and they called 45 min before and cancelled it but we were able to go at 1:00 we saw whales up close and got wonderful pictures even though most post on here discourage people from using pwf we were pleased and no problems with crowding but the whales were getting harder to find toward the end of the week we were there.

we saw a ton of whales last week.

Id cancel till you actualy scope out the situation...

This is almost 3 weeks after the Whale season .

Another reason for combining the tours is economics.. Visitation to Maui has dropped like a rock almost 16% in the past month and folks are hurting...

You will have lots of others to choose from...and the smaller the boat the better...you wont need to make advance reservations.....lots will be wide open.

We call PWF the day we want to take a tour and find out which cruise is the ';bargain'; one. I have read the posts about crowding and don%26#39;t get it since the two times we went we were super comfy and really enjoyed it. We did get rail seats cuz we hussled on board and didn%26#39;t mess around. There was plenty of room for everyone to have turns at the rail and to see really well from the other seats. Maybe because we are booking same day we are lucking out and getting a less popular cruise or something. I was highly impressed with their knowledge and the tour we had.
