Public Transportation Question

We will have a rental car for our entire trip in June, but we are going to do the Diamond Head hike and Hanauma Bay in the same day...we are still trying to decide which to do first to help with crowds and parking.

It has been suggested that we may not be able to find parking at the one we decide to do in the afternoon and that we might want to take a tour to make sure we can get in. My question is if public transportation would be an option that day? How far away from Diamond Head and Hanauma Bay do the buses drop off? Is that something that is feasible?

Thanks!

Public Transportation Question

You ought to drive to Hanauma Bay first. Plan to get there before 9am if you drive. Or you can get there in the early afternoon. By about 2pm, the parking is OK again.

There is nothing wrong with doing the Diamond Head hike in the middle of the day if you have other plans for the morning. It is better in the early morning because of the heat. But its only a .7 mile hike to the top %26amp; isn%26#39;t that bad even in the heat of the day. Take some water with you.

The bus will drop you off on Diamond Head Road about 1/2 mile from the trailhead. I wouldn%26#39;t take the bus if I had a car. With a car you can park right near the trailhead.

Not sure where the city bus would drop you off for Hanauma Bay. The map shows it goes to near the visitors center. #22 bus.

Public Transportation Question

Thanks Dusty! I will take your advice and just drive to Hanauma Bay first and hike Diamond head closer to 3 pm or so.

Thanks again!

After going there last week- I%26#39;d suggest getting there by at least 8:00 am, and allowing for really bad traffic in the morning rush :-(

There are snorkling outfits that will pick you up and drop you off. I%26#39;d look into one of those
