Old Lahaina Luau Transportation

I%26#39;m traveling on a cruise and I have booked by myself a night at Old Lahaina Luau. How long will it take to go from the dock to the actual place where the Luau takes place? What%26#39;s the best way to get there and back to the bus (cab, shuttle, pubic transportation)? How much will it cost? We are a party of three. Thanks in advance for the advise!

Are you tendering in at Lahaina or coming in to the harbor at Kahului??

The answer is quite different in each of the two cases.

Excellent Question. It looks like we are arriving at KAHULUI according to the cruise documents.

You might do best to simply rent a car. It is about 27 miles from the Kahului Harbor to Lahaina.

Cabs will run about $75 each way so you can certainly rent a car for much less than $150.

Bus really isn%26#39;t an option %26amp; NCL doesn%26#39;t have the right timing to get you here %26amp; back on the ';Lahaina on Your Own'; transportation.

Ok. These are some news to me... One more question, then: Is there a Luau closer to the place where the ship docks? I can settle for something less sumptuous but closer to the dock.

The easiest way is to book the luau through the cruise lines. The main luaus are in the resort areas of Wailea or Kaanapali, both of which are a ways from the Kahului Harbor.

After this discussion, I decided to call the cruise line and I found out that the cruise is actually tendering at Lahaina! How does this change the transport situation if I keep my plans to go to the Old Lahaina Luau? is it easier?

The Lahaina pier is more or less at the south end of town. OLL is more or less at the north end of town. Town is not very big; you%26#39;ll be quite close, probably in cab range.

From the main loading dock @ Lahaina Harbor to Old Lahaina Luau is only about a mile or so... easy cab %26amp; a medium walk. Be sure to check the last tender time!!!!
