I%26#39;ve read a lot of information on the Hanalei Bay Resort and am a little nervous booking a unit because the reviews seems so varied. First of all, Summit Pacific, VRBO or Regency to rent through? Or does it depend on the specific unit? In which case, does anyone have any feedback on #9324, 4202, 2301 or 7102? We don%26#39;t need a lot of space, but want something clean, quiet, with a nice view and a sofa to lounge on in the evening.
Thanks for your insight!
HBR question
I think I pretty know each and every condo at HBR so here goes:
9324 is a hotel room size unit with lovely furniture and great view of Hanalei Bay. You will rent through Regency Pacific Realty (the owner will hand it off) and you%26#39;ll be charged another $50. This is a good option if you don%26#39;t want a kitchen and want to save $$. 4202 is a full one bedroom with living room, washer dryer etc. Again nice views of the bay and gets good reviews. I know the owners and they will take good care of you. They do all the renting themselves.
2301: Not familiar with it but it%26#39;s a third floor unit in the building close to the lounge. If you don%26#39;t want to hear music from 6-9 don%26#39;t stay here.
7102 is a ground floor one bedroom with a new granite kitchen and is close to the small pool and barbque area. It is a long walk down to get there but if quiet and private are what you are looking for this is a good one.
So you%26#39;ve asked about a lot of different ones. Some are just ';hotel rooms'; another a studio and 2 are full one bedrooms for more room.
Just do not rent through the hotel. You can%26#39;t be sure what condo you%26#39;ll get and the options are much better through a private owner. SP, VRBO(some units on there I don%26#39;t like) and Regency are all good sources.
FYI: I am an owner there so I know what I speak.
Feel free to private email me with any specific questions.
HBR question
We stayed in 7101-7102 (booked both at once) and were very happy--it was clean and extremely comfortable and totally private. We didn%26#39;t need anything more. The view was great (beautiful rainbow over Bali Hai the first morning--I%26#39;ll never forget opening the drapes to that and those chickens!). The pictures on Summit Pacific are spot on--just as it appeared in person! The bathroom is small and not fancy, and the washer/dryer are the small stackable ones (weak!), but everything is in good working order, the kitchen is in great shape and well appointed, the place feels spacious, and the whole experience was delightful. And the resort itself is really outstanding--wish I was at that pool right now!
p.s. Ah yes, it%26#39;s true, the hike down there gets old after a time or two...but we figured it helped us work off the mai tais, and it%26#39;s what kept it so quiet and restful!
I just got some word that in regards to the restaurant, Bali Hai, permits have been submitted to the county, some termite work needs to be done, and the plan is to have a scaled down menu to appeal to more guests. The resort is hoping to start construction in Feb. Haven%26#39;t heard a completion date. In the meantime The Happy Talk Lounge is offering new menu items. It is open for lunch and dinner.
Construction has also begun on a new sundry shop at HBR below the restaurant. You%26#39;ll be able to buy things like juice, milk, beer and wine and souvenirs. Pool side service is expected to begin when this project is complete. There are also bathroom remodeling projects going on and the parking lot is getting increased. These projects should not interfere with guests. They are being done close to the entry.
I knew I came to the right place! Thanks for the advice - it%26#39;s great to get the opinions of people who have been there.
Hi i am trying to figure out how to rent a unit from an owner (joan bettencourt) i have read good reviews...does anyone know how i would go about this?
thanks :)
shellz34, I believe you can find what you%26#39;re looking for on Summit Pacific. Just click through the one bedroom suite entries and look for that particular owner%26#39;s name. :)
shellz34---Joan Bettencourt is also known on TA as jebett. She posted on this thread. Take a look above a couple of posts above this one.
Here%26#39;s a link to her unit: http://www.summitpacificinc.com/4222.html
Hi,
I stayed at unit 1557-58 about 4 years ago and will be staying there again this year. Very nice unit a little secluded which was nice but not too far from things :) Very spacious and we were really happy with all the extras the unit had. Also, the owner Jim is very helpful with any questions you may have.
