So we were sorry we missed out on the Gazebo on our first trip and are only spending 1 day on W Maui this trip, so we only have 1 shot.
We are doing the ziplining in W Maui really early on a Tuesday, so we could not go to the Gazebo before the trip. The plan is to go straight there after the zipline and split some pancakes for lunch. (It closes at 2 pm right?)
Has anyone been for lunch -- are the lines just as crazy? Is splitting pancakes and a side a good idea (we are doing a luau later that evening and don%26#39;t want to fill up too much, but have to taste them!)?
Thanks all!
How are the Gazebo's lines at lunch as opposed to breakfast? We always try to hit it about 10:30...a couple of times long lines but not usually, as an aside refering to your other post...I believe there is a shower right by the pool as you wait for a table and there are restrooms there as well...one could shower and change while the other holds your place...just an idea!
How are the Gazebo's lines at lunch as opposed to breakfast? We ate there twice during our last trip--the second time for lunch...maybe a 5-minute wait if that.
I stayed at Napili Bay where the Gazebo Restaurant is in Nov and the line was SUPER crazy and the line was long. It did die down around lunch time though. If worse comes to worse they have tables around the pool and you can order your meal to go and sit there instead of outside. The pool is right next to the Gazebo so you will still have an amazing view! Mahalo!
I was there 2 weeks ago %26amp; did the same thing -pancakes for lunch. We showed up around 1:15 and it was a 2-3 minute wait at most. You should go, but don%26#39;t split an order - you%26#39;ll just wind up fighting over each bite. And make sure you try the coconut syrup. MMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmm very good stuff! Enjoy.
Just another observation. We stayed at the Napili Shores (home of the Gazebo) this visit and it was crazy to see how people would line up for this place. Don%26#39;t get me wrong, the pancakes are good. But they open at 7:30 and people start lining up around 7:00 ----EVEN IN THE RAIN!!! I saw it happen on 3 rainy mornings. I%26#39;m sorry, but there isn%26#39;t a pancake in the world that would get me to stand in the rain. And I%26#39;ve lived my whole lfe in rainy Oregon.
Amen to that Rich1963.
I%26#39;ll second that amen, Julaf. There has been an amazing bit of self perpetuating hype about the Gazebo in the past couple of years. It%26#39;s breakfast folks. And you can buy the coconut syrup at the Star Market. Personally, I think there are equally great, if not better, breakfast options at the Seahouse on the other end of Napili Bay. Same great views - no lines.
Hmmm..it%26#39;s really not just about breakfast, which has always been AWESOME...It%26#39;s standing in line with friends and family, sharing the view...taking turns checking out the turtles and the tide-pools...sharing experiences with other travelers ahead and behind of you in line...who did what and enjoyed it! Picking up info and meeting great folks.
The Gazebo is much more than a great place to eat!
It really has the old-fashioned feel of a neighborhood joint. We love it!
I%26#39;m not much for waiting in line for anything, much less breakfast, but if you have to wait in line somewhere, I doubt you%26#39;d find a prettier place.
We enjoyed the fried rice plate with eggs over easy on top more than the pancakes. Now that is definitely a dish two could split.
You also discover what a small world it is while waiting. On two occasions we have met someone who knew someone we knew - one knew my sister and one knew my dad%26#39;s girlfriend. Weird!!
We stayed at the Napili Shores...
Again, one of my favorite moments was watching the whales with my morning coffee %26amp; the other favorite Maui moment was watching the people come in droves to the Gazebo. I ordered the pancakes to my room to see what all the hype was about.. Pancakes, I agree with the previous posts. I wouldn%26#39;t stand in line for any pancake! But it%26#39;s all about the people/view the Maui Moments!!
I did go for lunch %26amp; had the rice dish. Split it with my DH. Wow! I would stand in line for the dish.
To answer your question, definetly the line is shorter for lunch. Enjoy!
