Who Goes to Hawaii?

I thought you%26#39;d like to see these stats froma travel newsletter.

Of the 7.3 million Hawaii visitors last year, 1.9 million were from California, according to the Hawaii Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism. Following California, the states with the most Hawaii visitors were Washington, 380,290; Texas, 226,402; Arizona, 187,013; Oregon, 176,587; and Illinois, 145,456. Of the East Coast states, New York sent the most visitors to Hawaii, 125,205.

Who Goes to Hawaii?

St. Louis, Mo, sent at least 2!

Who Goes to Hawaii?

makes perfect sense.

the closest states send the most people. cali is by far the most populous state, as well as being the closest; so naturally based on proximity and population, it sends the most people.

texas and new york also have large populations, as does illinois.

florida probably sends more people to the caribbean, b/c, well, it%26#39;s closer.

North St. Louis County, Missouri sent 2 for 2 weeks in April. We go at least every 4 years-plan to go more when we can.

Denver sends 2 a year, and an informal poll of our friends shows a even division between Hawaii and Mexico fans (more direct flights from DEN to Mexico). Most of my East Coast friends go to the Caribbean b/c of shorter flight times.

BLBL -- Any stats for Canada? We have a LOT of Canadian guests.

Sue -- I thought of that, too. Maybe I%26#39;ll see if I can pull up a source document when I get home. All those surveys we fill out on the plane should account for our Canadian friends as well.

Lots of Alaskans go as well, but when you only have about 600,000 people in your entire state, we don%26#39;t break any statistical records! Up to last year when Alaska Air bought out Hawaiian vacations, it was one of the few places that Alaskans could fly direct and cheaply - often around $400 to Honolulu. :)

Very true about the West Coast being the highest in visitors. When I lived in Ohio I would not have thought to go to Hawaii since it is so far away...now living in CA, we go almost every year.

I represent NJ and I am making my third trip this year. I know many from NJ that go.
