Polynesian Shores Condos

Has anyone stayed at the Polynesian Shores Condo Complex? Can you snorkel/swim in front of the resort? Would you recommend this property? Their site indicates no air conditioning would this be a problem in early August?

Polynesian Shores Condos

I have never stayed at the Polynesian, but once at the Mahina Surf which is next door. My sister and BIL stay at the Mahina Surf almost every year. There is no sand but instead a lot of rocks so it would be hard to enter and exit the water. I never saw anyone snorkel there. Both places are nice, small, older complexes and reasonable priced, but I would want air conditioning especially in August. Each unit is different. Some updated with new furnishings, others kinda old and musty.

I have stayed at both places and really enjoyed them. Polynesian shores has a great deck with a BBQ right on the water (at Mahina Surf the BBQ is back a bit, no deck). The pool is fenced at Poly Shores and is prettier and unfenced at Mahina Surf.

We have snorkeled twice off the area at Mahina Surf. It is rocky most of the time and entry is challenging, I%26#39;d rate it intermediate. The water is not super clear since it%26#39;s not as protected adn lots of algae grows there - that%26#39;s why so many turtle congregate there. If you do snorkel there you will be rewarded with turtle sightings.

When we stay there we head up the road 10 min to snorkel at Honolua Bay, Mokelia, Kapalua or Napili.

Just a block up from the Mahina there is a small sandy beach where the surfers get in and out.

There are ceiling fans and I think coming from Wisconsin you%26#39;d be ok in August. It will get warm upstairs. Try to get a unit in a side building as the one that is parallel to the road gets direct sun in the afternoons.

I was in Napili in March. No A/C in our condo. We got a fan from the Hotel which saved us. We even had the doors/windows open at night.

That%26#39;s our personal opinion. August I would definetly go for A/C.

I didn%26#39;t make my point clear. My assumption was that someone from Wisconsin is used to pretty high heat and humidity and therefore a 90 degree day, with a decent tradewind, is not going to feel uncomfortable to someone used to those temps.

Coming from Vancouver you are used to much cooler weather and therefore would not be comfortable without AC.
