does anyone know if you can rent wave runners on polo beach. we are staying at the fairmont. do we have to go to another beach?

I do not think you can rent wave runners during whale season but I am not sure if that is still true. It was a few years ago on Oahu.

The only jet ski rental on Maui that I%26#39;m aware of is on the south end of Ka%26#39;anapali Beach in West Maui. They pick you up from shore and run you out to a platform offshore. Rentals run about $60 for a half hour and $95 for a full hour, and your riding is limited to a designated area around the platform.

Gads I am sorry to hear they rent them....with so much else to do on Maui making a lot of noise should not have to be one of them....sorry to those who want to do this...it is not a flame to you I just think there is a time and place for everything and personally, jet ski rentals and Hawaii should not ever happen.

It is SO disrespectful to the guests who are there for the beauty and tranquility of the island not to mention the locals who have to put up with all that insane noise....the only other thing that equals it are the ';guests of the island'; who rent Harleys. Can%26#39;t we just keep our noise toys on the mainland and respect and enjoy the beauty of that little dot of sand in the middle of the Pacific?!

As a previous poster mentioned, the jet skis are confined to a specific area, more than 1/2 mile offshore south of the Hyatt on Ka%26#39;anapali beach which keeps the noise down a bunch.

There are NO rentals from the beach and they do not come in close to the beach so it isn%26#39;t really much of an issue (except for the wild renters that want to tear up the ocean like they can in Mexico)

So..Kooky...you will have to drive to Ka%26#39;anapali, sign up, take a boat out to the platform, then ride in a clockwise circle in a very defined area.

The jet ski%26#39;s are banned from Dec. 15th- May 15th, whale season. Then off you go. Don%26#39;t be so quick to complain about the Harley%26#39;s. There are quite a few different Harley clubs for locals on the island.
