Can anyone tell me, is it possible to say stay at one resort and then go to another resort and use the pools? We are staying at the Mauna Lani and are wondering if we could partake in the dolphin encounter at the Hilton, or ty out their pool. How far is the Hilton from the Mauna Lani? All info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

You can buy into the dolphin encounter if you want to. Hilton used to sell day passes to the pools, not sure if they still do but anyway, no, you can%26#39;t just walk in an use any resorts pools you want, they are for paying guests.
Do a search of the forum to get folks opinions of the dolphin enounters, might be an eye opener for you. BTW, last time we were there it was $175 per peson to do it...so it is not cheap by any means.
Resort hopping
There have been several post about using the pools in resorts that are not your own. Bottom line -- ';No, the cost of those amenities are incorporated in the room costs, so only those persons who are paying to stay in the resort are entitled to use the pool, etc.'; That being said, some resorts do allow you to pay a day fee for use of the pool ... but it doesn%26#39;t seem like there are very many of them. The Hilton may be an exception, as they draw from the general public alot for restaurants and such. I imagine that the day pass would be $$$$.
We have bought day passes at the Hilton. It was $80 for 4 people. Call them and see if they are still doing it. They do not reserve day passes in advance. You call in the morning of the day you want to go and they tell you if their occupancy level allows them to sell for that day.
I would urge you to take a look at these excellent web pages that explains why anyone who is interested in or cares for dolphins would not want to participate in the dolphin encounter IF aware of the facts.

Numerous posters here have changed their minds after educating themselves. Best wishes to you.
No... it is not permitted in any way and security will public embarrass you as they escort you off the entire hotel property... No hotel here permits day passes with one exception the Hilton which now is charging $50 per person per day, they no longer sell the family pass for up to 4 for $80 Thus a family of 4 will cost $200..... not 80.
You can book a dolphin encounter without it. Visitors are issued color coded wrist bands to identify them.
Pool or grounds crashing is a hot topic with security.. zero tollerance and looked down on by guests and staff alike.... no Aloha for this activity..
