ziplining

anyone out there done a zipline tour..we are thinking of doing one when we visit kuaui with the crusieship..

ziplining

I%26#39;d like to know more about zipling as well. I think the fiance%26#39; would really enjoy it but am leary on if I will or not. I%26#39;m not a fan of ';rides'; that make you feel like you%26#39;re falling. Is that how zipling feels for those of you who have done it? I did it myself at camp many, many years ago when I was like 9 but now I%26#39;m more of a chicken. Can a chicken who%26#39;s 30 handle zipling when she%26#39;s on her honeymoon? lol

Check out jenp%26#39;s reports -- she is on Kauai now and did a zip tour during her first week there. tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g29218-i304-k18976… One of her other posts has photos of it too.

Just type in zipline in the search box and you will find all kinds of posts on this topic. All of the ziplines on Kauai get very high marks. I can%26#39;t remember anyone who didn%26#39;t enjoy their zipline experience regardless of which company they used. You can book here at a discount:

We did the Princeville Zip N Dip last year and will be doing it again this year.

k324 - Like you, I was nervous and afraid I couldn%26#39;t handle it because I%26#39;m not a fan of rides either. I did the course with Kauai Backcountry Adventures last summer and have talked about nothing since! It was so much fun and I can%26#39;t wait to try another course on Maui this summer. I found it very very different from one of those free-falling thrill rides -- you don%26#39;t feeling that sensation of falling really -- it%26#39;s more gliding I guess. I never felt unsafe. They have you do a short ';test'; line first and give the chance to turn back or continue on. Now, I gotta say that I found the test line the worst. It made my stomach jump and I was still nervous but didn%26#39;t want to be a wuss. The rest of the lines were a total blast (see the video in my profile). My advice: if you%26#39;re curious enough to ask the question just go for it! You might hate it, but there%26#39;s a good chance you%26#39;ll have the time of your life.

Zip Linging is a great and fun experience. We also went with KAUAI BACK COUNTRY ADVENTURES. Loads of fun, and professional and safe.

You will be wearing a strong harness, that clips to the pully on the line itself. The guides, will check your harness each and everytime you hook up.

they will help you, and you will be briefed on that particular zip, and how to take off, and land.

You will also learn how to control your body orientation, ( which way you face while zipping ) by meerly twisting the snap hook just below the pully.

Easy stuff.

There will be guides on the other side of the zip, awaiting your arrival, and to slow down your momentum and bring you to a stop.

We had zero problems, and everyone on our particular tour continued on after the practice zip.

The practice zip runs right along next to the ridge where everyone is standing. You are not out over the valley for the first zip. It is merely to get you acclimataded. If anyone , at that time, decides they do not want to do it, the Back Country Van, drives them down to the river and picnic area where the rest of the zippers will eventually join them for lunch.

The whole experience with Back Country was excellent.

The guides and base personel are all outstanding. Thier huge base facility is very comfortable and nicely laid out, and the operation is higly professional.

You will have a great time in the van just going up to the zip area from the base. And after lunch , the ride back is great as well. You get to meet your guides, visit with them, introduce yourselves, and learn about the culture , land, and flora on the drives.

The zips are super fun, as you are soaring over the jungle below. Really neat.

Stronly recommend CLOSED TOED SHOES, and long shorts or pants of some kind.

Bring a easy to use camera, with a strap.

Which zip to take. All are great. Might just pick the one closest to your accomodations.

Friends just returned from cruising Hawaii and they did the mudbug tour in Kauai-----they absolutely loved it so that%26#39;s an alternative for you if you have children which cannot do zip or if you%26#39;re looking for something else to do.

great comments and advice from all..thanks!!!!!we will either zipline or do the helicopter ride...this willbe our first time in kuaui and we will only be there two days..i want to make the most of the two days.....so ziplining or helicopter ride..the zipline videos do not look as impressive as the helicopter videos..suggestions formanyone or from someone who has done both?

Do both. The Zipline was around 3 hours I think. The helicopter is usually only about 45 minutes.

The helicopter you get to see the island layout. Ziplining lets you only see a certain area, but it%26#39;s a LOT of fun.

I wasn%26#39;t crazy about either going in, but enjoyed both.

i would love to do both, both combined are expensive..blue hawaiin for the copter ride costs $200 per person and ziplining is 150 per person..so if i had to chose only one.....?
