Poipu Kai, Kahala section?

We will be at Poipu Kai resort in June and according to the folks at Suite Paradise we will ';most likely'; be in the Kahala section. Can anyone give me an idea of this area? I was told that for an extra $61 a night we can reserve a specific condo, but that doesn%26#39;t help because I have no clue which condos are better or worse than any others.

Poipu Kai, Kahala section?

Aloha from Kaua%26#39;i!

I attend a water aerobics class at Po%26#39;ipu Kai - so this morning I asked the ladies there what section was the ';Kahala'; section -- it turned out to be the section right by where we were in the pool! So I know there are 2 pools, this one is the one closest to Po%26#39;ipu Grill and the units are clustered around the pool and the tennis courts.

I have never been inside one of these units, but view-wise they would have a garden type view. They all look very nice and a couple of the ladies in the class live in that section. If you have specific questions about them - I go to the next class on Wednesday and could ask then.

We have stayed in the Kahala section, the Manualoha section, and the Poipu Sands section. All, several times.

When booking we would reserve an extra deluxe garden view 1 br.

Automatically that would get us into the Manualoha or Poipu Sands sections , which are nicer and better appointed than the Kahala Section.

Check the website rates, and see what the price difference is between '; deluxe'; and ';EXTRA -deluxe';

Might save you a few bucks. We stayed at poipu kai for 12 years so we do have a little experience.

I know if we asked for a certain section it was more costly. However the Kahala section is very nice, just not quite the level of Manualoha or Poipu Sands.

We would not know what section we had, until we checked in...Extra deluxe...but either one of Manualoha or Poipu Sands was alway great for us.

Poipu Sands is very near Shipwreck Beach at the Hyatt. Easy walk to that beach, free torch lighting, and keiki hula show, live jazz at Stevens Library,

and the beginning of the coastal hike over to Maha%26#39;ulepu. All, at the Hyatt.

Mnaualoha is a close walk to Poipu Beach, Brenneckes, the tiki bar at the Waiohai, snorkeling, and bbqing at poipu beach park.

All sections have their own semi private pool, and you will have your own key. I personally like Manualoha%26#39;s pool only because it overlooks Brenneckes Beach, and Poipu Beach Park.

So, you cannot go wrong with any of the three, but you now have a little more information. Check the website and see if that plan requesting an Extra Deluxe will save you any bucks.

Actually we like them all...but liked extra deluxe a little more. To us it was worth it. Even then, tho it was a couple of years back, the highest we paid was $ 155.00 /night. A bit higher than normal since we stayed only one week, instead of two since we were only there to locate our permanent island home before making the move over.

Hmmm...our reservation is for a 2/2 Deluxe Ocean View. Do you think requesting an Extra Deluxe would make a big difference? Location is important always...I am slightly confused as to how close to the beach the different condos are. Arrrgh :(

Kahala sectiion is a ways back from the beach, and you might have a view of the ocean looking out over the large grassy area and well groomed landscaping.

Manualoha, has also ocean veiws and closer to the beaches than Kahala. They have some units, right next to the pool overlooking brenneckes beach and poipu beach park. Other ocean view manualoha sit back a bit.

Poipu Sands has great views overlooking shipwreck beach ( Haytt ) with a large lawn area in between.

Again, deluxe usually gets you Kahala section

EXTRA deluxe Manualoha or Poipu Sands.

We thought the ocean view of Kahala

was pretty neat. The the people staying there would sit out on their lanais , and relax with a coldie, enjoying the peace and the view.

Be aware, that when ocean view is advertised by any accomodation, or resort, it might just be a sliver of blue water. Be prepared and accept what ever you get.

Not saying that is what your view will be, but Kahala has you a ways back from the beach.

Our idea, different from many others, is that we would not be sitting at the condo. We would be at the beaches, and in the water. So, we just had the garden view.

Other folks, not quite as active, and not out all day exploring, would spend more time at their condos, and a view, of course , would be of more importance.

Again, we loved poipu kai, each and every visit, and even now as residents, we take a walk thu poiu kai and think back on always happy memories.

Thanks again, so much! ';We'; consists of two grandmas, myself and my sister who are both 60-something, and two grandsons (cousins) who are both barely 17...so ocean vicinity is important to the boys more than my sister and me. I am going to call Suite Paradise and ask about the differences if I upgrade to extra deluxe...although at this late date I may not be able to reserve that.
