I tried a search and found nothing on it. Is it like the ferries in Seattle, like public transit that you can put your cars on and go from island to island on?

Hawaii Superferry is a new company that operates without any regard to the environment.

Please don%26#39;t take it.

Its a good idea gone really really bad.

The supper ferry is a large efficient economical passenger and car carrier carries 800 people and 300 cars in total comfort and is much cheaper than the current interisland fares....and whole lot more scenic way to go from Maui to Honolulu... ( goes twice a day in under 4 hrs)

Its powered by Hydro Jets and is a very stable Cat Hull... state of the art....

It will soon be serving Honolulu form the Kona area on the big island. and 85% of the states residents cant wait to use it..... you will too.

...It is an extremely environmental friendly way causing less harm to land . air or beast than Freighters, Airplanes and many residents which we have here...and have had for decades

Super ferry...it the way to go for the future...not interisland airlines.....

Superferry got a sweetheart deal to operate in Hawaii without a required environmental assessment.

When the case was heard in court, the judge ruled that Superferry should not have been given an exemption for an EA. The judge also ruled that there was merit to the case that Superferry could damage the environment. The judge stopped the Superferry from operating in Maui.

So the Lingle Administration passed a law allowing the Superferry to operate pending the required EA.

Superferry has had to cancel half of the time due to rough seas or for repairs.

Right now they are operating at 43 mph in a whale population.

No other vessel operates at more than 25 mph.

At 43 mph a vessel can travel 10 miles between the time whales surface. There is absolutely no way the Superferry can operate safely at 43 mph in a whale population.

Please do not take the Superferry.

In a word, unreliable.

Bring your Dramamine.... the open ocean adds a bit of a rough ride. It will take your car but it is not the pleasant ride through the Sound. It is also not something you can count on like the ferries in Seattle - still a novelty right now and not running regularly.

They are adding a second run to Maui.

People get airsick too.

Planes pollute far more than the ferry does.

A plane could lose power, crash and kill a whale.

All the current invasive species came LONG before the ferry began operations but none of the methods of transport that brought them seem to catch the same flack as the super ferry.

The super ferry is an exteremly hot button topic in the islands with folks on both sides of the fence and darn few in the middle.

The eco-nazis don%26#39;t want anyone to use this method of transportation. I suspect they are funded by the inter-island airlines and barge operators that simply don%26#39;t want the competition. Hawaii needs an alternative mode of inter-island transportation and this seems to be it.

I found the SuperFerry to be a convenient and efficient way to get myself %26amp; vehicle to Oahu and back. I will use it again %26amp; again!

Since resuming sailing several weeks ago there have not been any weather (or any other reason) cancellations.
