Itinerary Suggestions

My boyfriend and I are heading to Maui in September for a wedding. We arrive Sunday afternoon and plan to go to a luau on the first night. The wedding will be on Monday, so I plan to just relax on the beach or pool before the wedding. Then Tuesday morning, we leave for Oahu for an overnight trip but will return to Maui on Wednesday night. We leave Friday night on a 9:25 PM flight.

So we will pretty much only have all day Thursday and all of Friday in Maui. We will be staying in Kaanapali and plan to check out Lahaina, perhaps for a meal. Any suggestions for our itineary that are a must see and do? Should we do Hana Road and the Haleakala National Park? Since our time is limited, is it possible to make Haleakala a half day trip or do only part of Hana Road?

Itinerary Suggestions

I suggest you don%26#39;t go to Oahu. An overnight is not enough and you will regret not having more time to really see the sites. You%26#39;ll be spending too much time at Hawaiian airports.

On Maui I think your best bet is only driving half of the Hana Highway. Drive to the Iao Valley and drive out to Makena and swim at Big Beach which is very romantic and relaxing. The Haleakala drive takes one half day and check the weather up top before you go. The hotel concierge should help you with that.

That should fill up your time. September is a beautiful month on Maui.

Itinerary Suggestions

I like Oahu, but with less than a week, I also suggest you don%26#39;t take a trip to Oahu.

You%26#39;ll find lots of things to do on Maui.
