Secluded accommodations on Kauai

I%26#39;m beginning to change my thinking a little bit about where my wife and I want to stay in Kauai for our 30th anniversary. Since privacy is probably a little more important than being close to a beach (we can always drive there), I%26#39;m now looking at these places:

Jungle River Hideaway: http://www.vrbo.com/52010

Aloha Sweet Seclusion:

Has anyone stayed at either one or do you have any other suggestions for a ';jungle hideaway on the north side of the island that is still a fairly short drive to the beaches?

Thanks so much!

Secluded accommodations on Kauai

I haven%26#39;t stayed in those places, but I would love to . . . .anywhere past Hanalei, in the Haena area, etc., would be perfect for lush scenery, and the seclusion you desire, plus you would be but a short drive to the fabulous beaches on the North shore like Ke%26#39;e beach, Tunnels, etc. Best of luck! :)

My wife and I stayed there this summer celebrating our 35th. It is in Anahola on the NE side on Aliomanu Bay, a mile and a half off the Kuhio Highway. Very private and quiet, a short walk across the street and through the woods to Aliomanu beach. Although there are houses along the beach, you will find you%26#39;ll have the beach to yourself.

You are close to Kapaa and the wide selection of restaurants there. It is a bit of a drive to the North Shore and you may prefer to be closer. But, we were very happy with our choice.

HI Desert Beach Lover,

I just got back from my wedding/Honeymoon last week

we stayed in the Sundeck studio at Aloha Sweet Seclusion.

It was absolutely beautiful. Very secluded, very Jungly close to

a lot of beautiful beaches. Lumahai where I got married, Haena State Park where Tunnels is. It was a perfect choice in my opinion

very private. It has a bathtub outside on the sundeck where you can

relax in a bath and enjoy being outdoors in your birthday suit in private. It was awesome and I would definately reccomend it.

One thing though is there are a lot of mosquitoes because you are directly on a river so make sure you put mosquito repellent on.

We went to the Princeville resort for a luah and where people spend

300 to 500 a night and it was very blah. If you choose Aloha sweet seclusion I think your wife and you will be very happy with it.

AS long as you like the jungle beautiful greenery. We will be going back next year. If you have any questions my email is heysweetiehey@yahoo.com.

Thanks,

Gina

heysweetiehey: I have always thought that looked like a perfect place to stay - esp. the sundeck unit - have had that bookmarked for several years now . . . glad to hear it%26#39;s as nice as I imagined. :) Someday! :)

Another north shore accomodation that usually comes highly recommended are the Hale Makai Cottages - www.halemakaicottages.com

kwils - those are lovely cottages . . . maybe someday when I don%26#39;t have such a tight budget . . . $66 a night in Princeville worked really good this last time. :)

I can%26#39;t believe I%26#39;m going to say this, but Moloa%26#39;a Bay is quite secluded and picturesque. And you can stay right on the beach. We stayed there this July and it couldn%26#39;t have been more private.

heysweetiehey,

Some other posters indicated there might be a problem with mosquitoes at the Sundeck Studio and that we wouldn%26#39;t even be able to be outside at night. Did you find that was a problem? What time of year were you there?

dabsia,

Thanks for the heads up on Moloaa. I%26#39;d been looking at that, too. Where did you stay there?

Thanks for all your input!

There is a problem with Mosquitos even at the Princeville Hotel.

I dont know if it is the time of the year or if it is always like that.

I dont remember it being like that 12 years ago. One thing that you dont have to worry about there is West Nile so you can not catch any of the nasty diseases we have here on the mainland from the Mosquitos. We were out at night alot. I only recieved maybe 3 mosquito bites because I guess they just dont like my blood but my other 1/2 got about 12 and my mother and sisters stepson got bit

easily over 20 times. As long as you use either tea tree oil which we bought up there or some type of bug repellent you should be fine.

When we went to the Luah at the Princeville Hotel there were mosquitos there to. I guess it is just because it is the jungle and maybe the time of the year. But the beauty there is incredible and like I said I took an outside bath in that tub at least 5 times while I was there just relaxed with drink enjoyed the sound of the river and looked up at the sky. It was cool I will never forget it. We were just there 08/31/06 through 09/07/06. It was an awesome place and we will be back mosquitos or not. Have fun wherever you decide to stay.
