New vegetarian options at Keoki's!

I went to dinner with my hubby, Leilani and Darryl and Donna, one of my hula sisters last night for my b-day - we went to Keoki%26#39;s (usually go to Duke%26#39;s, but just too late to drive over there) -- the only problem has always been with Keoki%26#39;s is that they don%26#39;t have any vegetarian items on their menu - my hubby is a vegetarian.

But a nice surprise - the waitress told us that even though it wasn%26#39;t on the menu, they offered 3 types of vegetarian pasta plus a stir fried veggie dish -- my hubby said his pasta was excellent and was very happy!

And of course the free hula pie for my b-day was much appreciated by all - we all took a stab at it!

A great dinner - wonderful service as well. They didn%26#39;t even rush us out of there altho%26#39; we were probably the only folks in the dining area left at the end.

Great news!!! wW usually hit Keoki%26#39;s on our first night on Kauai and we are all leaning towards vegetarian these days (except the kids, they love the Keiki Ribs!)

Good for Keoki%26#39;s! It just goes to show that sometimes it pays to ask. I think the last time we were there we didn%26#39;t see a particular item on the menu that we remembered from our previous visit, and the server said that was an occasional special and that the chef could probably make one up for us if we liked. We liked, and it was goooood. I%26#39;ve found them very accomodating at Keoki%26#39;s, which along with their food, atmosphere, service and fresh fish selection keeps me coming back every trip--even if we%26#39;re staying in Kapa%26#39;a.

Since your hubby is a veggie, have you tried Caffe Coco in Kapa%26#39;a? No red meat, mostly fish and veggie choices with a few chicken choices thrown in for variety. And any of the animal proteins on their menu items can be replaced with tofu on request, so if the dish didn%26#39;t start out veggie, it can be easily and happily converted. I%26#39;m not a veggie, but I actually dream of their tofu potstickers with jungle jazz dipping sauce--it is the first thing I want to eat after touching down on Kauai. And you can%26#39;t beat the live music in the outdoor dining room!

tennisbuff--there%26#39;s usually a coupon for a free slice of hula pie (with purchase of dinner) at Keoki%26#39;s in one of the tourist magazines you can pick up everywhere. I%26#39;d recommend only getting one slice and sharing. After a terrific meal at Keoki%26#39;s, I have a very difficult time keeping up my end of eating even half a slice. There%26#39;s no way I could eat a whole one by myself!

Thanks for the info on the stir fried veggie dish. We have a vegetarian in our family, and have been going to Keoki%26#39;s for years, but DS always asks for the Pasta Primavera. Looking forward to having a new choice this time.

If you don%26#39;t have a coupon from one of the weekly throw aways, the Hyatt valet%26#39;s (and probably others) give you a coupon for a free Hula Pie, when they ask you where you are headed for dinner, and you tell them Keoki%26#39;s
