US Airways? Please help!

Hi!

I have never flown on US airways and being from Canada I don%26#39;t really know much about them. They are coming up with the best prices so far to travel to Maui. Can anyone tell me about them? In the US I only have Northwest to compare them to.

Also, most of their flights have a 1 hr 53 minute layover before getting on a plane to Maui. This makes me a bit nervous since it isn%26#39;t much time to get out next flight. (I seem to often be on flights that are delayed, baggage problems etc.)

What do you think???

Please help!

Wait...if it is one carrier all the way then with a layover they should handle and transfer the luggage for me correct? That leaves me much more time.

US Air is fine, you don%26#39;t have to worry about anything.

';most of their flights have a 1 hr 53 minute layover before getting on a plane to Maui';

Where is the layover and are you changing carriers, Like going from Air Canada to US Air in Los Angles or are you just going from one US Air flight to another? If it is all US Air then 1 hour and 53 minutes is more than enough time for them to move you baggage and pad your schedule a bit to allow for a slightly delayed flight if need be.

Since Phoenix is US Air%26#39;s home base, I%26#39;ll wager the OP%26#39;s layover is there. If so, you%26#39;ll have plenty of time to make your connecting flight even if you are delayed. PHX is well a layed out, mid-sized airport. I would feel comfortable with as little as 30 mimutes to make my connection there. My luggage may not make it, but I could easily LOL!!

BTW, as was mentioned, US Air isa fine, no-frills airline.

A 1:53 layover is more than enough time for the airlines to transfer bags if they have to. I%26#39;ve been on many a flight that had to mmove bags across two terminals in 45 minutes, no problem.

US Air is an okay airline. Now in a previous life when it was Alleghany Airlines, we used to call it ';Agony Airlines';. Much better now, but they must have the same problems as all others do with fuel prices and labor issues.

What are your exact dates and departure airport. . .i just found a wonderful deal for Air+Car and bought 12 RT tickets. . .

I want to plug in your info and see what comes up.

Hello!

Thank you for all your help.

The layovers I found were in Phoniex so that airport info. helps.

If there was a delay do you think that US Airways would be able to handle getting us on another flight well?

By no frills comparison-is that what Northwest is as well?

Swirlz-we do not have exact dates as of yet. I am trying to find what is cheapest! For the flights I found it was leaving end of Feb. and returning in March. However, travel in March would be more prefferable. We would be leaving from Minniapolis/St. Paul airport. Again, whatever dates are cheapest we will look into! The best I have found including taxes is about $1400 round trip for 2 people. If possible I would like to see the price around $1000 round trip. I have been searching like mad.

Thanks!!!! You are all so helpful.

Swirlz-I should clarify...although it would be nice to go in end March/April that we would go in Feb. as well if it was cheaper!

The air/car deal is interesting since we will be needing a car as well.

I am going to look into flying from some tiny airports in ND in case anything comes up.

ANY help would be appreciated. Thank you!!!

I am sure they would do their best to get you where you are going.

Just about all the airlines are no frills these days aren%26#39;t they? For your ticket price you get to check a bag, get a seat, complimentary soft drinks and get where you are going. Beyond that most airlines today either charge for or don%26#39;t even offer much in the way of extra services (like pillows).

True Brighton Bill, I suppose the US carriers are. However, I was really shocked to see how no frills Northwest was. I described it to family as what you see on movies with people squeezing down the aisles trying to get to their seat.

WestJet for us is normally the cheapest way to fly in Canada. They were considered No frills. I took them to Maui last time. I thought this was a no frills airline. However, let me describe it for you: All leather seats, large aisles, extended leg room, personallized mini tvs with satellite to watch on the back of each seat, fair sized bathrooms with Spa type toiletries.

AND...that is NOT any first class! I thought the no frills about that airline was that they didn%26#39;t serve meals on the way there.

HELLO...was I in a rude awakening on my first Northwest flight this past year. I didn%26#39;t realized how spoiled I was.

That%26#39;s why the confusion over ';no frills';.

From North Dakota to Hawaii.. I would expect fares of about not less than $1200 each not for 2

Fares to Hawaii in summer from Los Angeles are running $800+.....

Comment on airlines....Look at seat guru to compare.

Also with 6 airlines going out of business for filing, in the past 2 months... I would look at an airline thats going to be around... Seeing the fuel costs, and seeing What West Jet is charging, it is only a matter of time before the sun sets on them... you cant run a business that charges less than it costs to operate......
