Staying at Kolea where can I go???

Last time I went to the BI i stayed at the Hilton, this time we are trying out Kolea, can I wonder around the Hilton and the Marriott without staying there? There was lots of things I enjoyed at the Hilton, and i would like to experience some again.

Yes, you can enjoy everything in the common areas except for swimming in the pools, the lagoon, the jacuzzi, and using chairs/loungers reserved for guests around the pools.

Great thanks, I cant remember from last time I stayed there, but do the guest get wrist bands, how do they determine who is a guest and who is not?

yes, guests get wristbands, and I would tell anyone not to even think about using the pools as a non-guest. They sometimes sell day passes for $80 for a 4-person family.

wrist bands are issued.. and there is ZERO tollerance from security for even the slightest breach...you will be very visualy escorted off the hotels property if you get caught. It is the intent to publicly embarrass and shame the offender

.Buy the day pass for $80... sold only if the hotel is not full..... and only sold the day of ... not before

Without the pass... you can walk around and thats it.. no chairs, pools, lounging on the grass...

These are only for guests...

Definately go to the front desk, pay the $80 and get the wristbands for the day. Its a fun day to play at the hilton if you are staying elsewhere. Not sure about the marriott pool tho.

The Marriott pools are for guests only, and non-guests should stay out of the whole pool area, other than to walk around it to take the trail to the beach or along the royal fishponds.

The Marriott used to have a poolside bar and sandwich place open to the public, but they relocated it up to the hotel dining terrace, which is why the public now has no reason to be in the pool area.

We stayed nearby the Hilton last month. We decided to stroll throught the Hilton the next day and check out the pools. (I had told Hubby that I read on the TW forum that we could buy day passes/wrist bands). Our kids are teens, but they still wanted to stay the day at the pools. When we inquired, they said we could pay $50/Per Person to ONLY use the pools for the day. Towels, Drinks, food is separate. Then they said that we could %26#39;bypass%26#39; this charge if we book and committed to a time share talk, that lasted 4 hours. If we booked and didn%26#39;t show up for the talk, they would charge us $300.00!! Also, in order to have the %26#39;privledge%26#39; of this time share talk...we had to prove we made $100,000/year! All this, and we could %26#39;bypass%26#39; the $200 (for 4) use of their pool for the day....they would then give you the wristbands for %26#39;free%26#39;. Needless to say, our kids and I lost interest at that point, and we left for the day at the beach!

very interesting update, gottalovemaui! Hilton used to sell the daypass for 4 for $80, if they weren%26#39;t too booked. Did they tell you that they%26#39;ve stopped this program? That would be good for people here to know, as people are regularly informed about the day pass option.

Aloha KK!!

I did not inquire about the $80 for 4 for the day, after my hubby came back with his %26#39;report%26#39; from reception area. He did all the inquiring at the reception desk (after I told him what I had learned on this forum), while I sat in the comfy chairs in the lobby area. I knew from this forum, that there was a price to the day passes to the pool, but I had no idea of the $80.00.....

Thanks! Well if there was an $80 deal I assume they would have told you, and I was under the impression that the pass gave you shower facilities and towels, at minimum. Sounds like the rules changed. That does happen.
