I%26#39;ve been to Haleakala, but can%26#39;t remember if there is a long walk from the visitor center to the observation area. Any know?

Mentor, maybe someone else will chime in here. Been years since I%26#39;ve been up there on a tour. As I recall, it%26#39;s maybe 100 yards at the most...somewhat uphill, but not bad.
On a different note, not sure what you can do at the observation area? There are some links on-line with pics...I%26#39;ve seen them before...someone please post the links for the Observatory (government related links, I%26#39;m sure).
Some one else please repond! Thanks...

I seem to remember that the visitor center IS the observation area. It shouldn%26#39;t be a problem unless you can%26#39;t find a parking space. You could always drop your senior citizen off then park your car.
Hopefully this link will work. You can see the visitor center and the observation deck. The bathrooms are located there as well:

Hi Mentor, here I am again, the Visitor Center is right at the observation area. Once you park, you are there. You can probably drop dad off at the door (this is where the restroom is, as well) and then park the car.
