Enough time to see Pearl Harbor?

My husband and I are stopping in Oahu on our last day in HI (after spending our vaca in Kauai) Our flight gets in to HNL at 10:30 a.m. and leaves out again at 4:30 p.m. I know the USS Arizona Memorial is only 15 min. from the airport, but I%26#39;m concerned about the wait for the tour/tickets - I%26#39;ve heard it%26#39;s sometimes up to 2 hrs. Do you all think we%26#39;ll have enough time to see it? My husband thinks we need to be back at the airport 2 hrs before the flight to get checked in...is that too excessive? That would cut our time to just 4 hrs. We were planning to go via taxi. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

You can try it and see. Some days tickets for the day are gone at 11am. You may have to wait 2 hours or more just for your time for the boat to the Memorial.

You might be cutting it close timewise, but I%26#39;d give it a shot. You definitely need at least 2 hours to see the memorial, including the tour to the Arizona. The boat to the Arizona itself isn%26#39;t that long, you only get about 15 minutes there, and the movie they show is about 15 minutes. But even if you don%26#39;t get a ticket to the Arizona, you can still walk around the site, see the artifacts and get the audio tour to hear the story about that day. The USS Bowfin is next door, and you could easily see that as well. You%26#39;ll have to check any bags, purses, etc. at the USS Bowfin before going into the Arizona area, since they don%26#39;t allow ANY bags. I think the cost is about $3.

I%26#39;d give it a try. What else would you do but sit in the airport? The USS Bowfin also has a small museum, and serves hotdogs, chips etc. for lunch. Alternatively, you could completely skip the Arizona if there are no tickets, and head over to the USS Bowfin to get a ticket to see the USS Missouri. There is plenty to do here!

painter ... with your luggage already checked to your final destination, arriving into HNL at 1030 am gives you amble time to go to the USS Arizona. Get a taxi (approx. $12) and go immediately to the USS Arizona and upon arriving go directly to the rangers desk. Get yourself a souvenir ticket (one ticket per individual) at which time you will be given the time for your shuttle to the USS Arizona Memorial provided by the US Navy.

Remembering that from the time you line up to go see the intro movie, go to the memorial and back, it is one hour and 15 minutes. Keeping this in mind, you need to watch the time so you depart PH NLT 3 pm to get back to the HNL airport. The taxi ride will be no more than 10 minutes and all domestic airlines requires you to be no later than 60 minutes if you are not checking bags. I believe there is a 130 pm shuttle to the memorial and this is the lastest shuttle you can take to be back on time.

Remember no carry on luggage to PH. If you do, you can check them in at the USS Bowfin area and the cost is $3 a bag.
