Aloha!! today is my family%26#39;s last day at the nihi kai villas in poipu. We can%26#39;t decide what to do! any suggestions? tomorrow we head up to the Marriot in Lihue. We have seen spouting horn, hung out at Poipu beach, and went hiking at Waimea canyon.
in paradise!
Aloha from Kaua%26#39;i!
Personally on my last day on vacation anywhere, I%26#39;d just like to enjoy the area - go to the beach, enjoy watching the honu across the street from Nihi Kai -
maybe getting a sandwich from Brennecke%26#39;s deli for the beach and just enjoy the beautiful view.
If you haven%26#39;t seen the unique little town of Hanapepe on the West Side with its art galleries and great little book store, swinging bridge - then that is a possibility - then a trip across the street to Salt Pond Park - a beautiful beach park. Grab a slice of lilikoi chiffon pie from Omoide and enjoy it at the beach! Check out the shops down at Port Allen.
Malama Pono,

in paradise!
Janet had nice suggestions but when she mentioned the book store in Hanapepe that jogged my memory.... my wife saw a newspaper ad within the last few weeks that the book store in Hanapepe is closing at end of April
and offering various discounts as closure nears. (I assume that is the Talk Story Book Store)
Oops... I meant Talk Story Bookstore in Hanapepe is likely closing.
Hang on a bit with the Talk Story bookstore closing.
Ed and Cynthia the owners are close friends, and we meet socially quite often. In fact just saw them on friday, and they are coming over next sat for a bbq and swimming.
Eventually, they will be leaving kauai, but no definite plan, so they are still in biz. And will be for quite some time.
Now, for the OP, spending some time at the Marriot in Lihue.
wonderful beach, swimming, kayak rentals, boogie bording, surfing lessons.
Outside Tiki Bar for lunch as well as Dukes Canoe Club.
Browse the shops and the grounds at the resort, and take a walk up the coastal hiking trail over to the light house.
Very pleasant day...
Denny
Aloha from Kaua%26#39;i!
I hadn%26#39;t heard anything about the Talk Story Bookstore possibly closing - Denny I%26#39;m glad to hear that it isn%26#39;t imminent - I%26#39;ve just discovered it and am enjoying using their great trade-in policy with books! I have a stack that I am reading through now from my old trade-ins! They are such nice folks!
I just was there about an hour ago in fact - on the way back from Doug running on the West Side Sunday mornings, we always go by there - even tho%26#39; they are not open, the kitties are in the window and always come running over to greet me - I put my hand through the mail slot and they vie to have their heads scratched - so sweet! I%26#39;m just a sucker for critters!
I hope they are around for a long while yet - they are a wonderful addition to the island, and especially to little Hanapepe!
Malama Pono,
Janet
Apology for indicating that Talk Story Bookstore closing as that was incorrect info as it remains in business.
I will stick my neck out a little more and say the ad I suspect my wife saw was for Hanalei Bookstore. There is currently a classified ad in Garden Island News classified ad web site that does not specifically mention Hanalei Bookstore but the going out of business classified ad phone number matches the Hanalei bookstore.
