Restaurant Reservations?

I%26#39;ve seen several posts about making dinner reservations prior to heading to Kauai. We%26#39;ll be there in mid-May. Is it necessary to book reservations this far in advance? Or is it just for a few restaurants? If so, which ones? Thanks

Restaurant Reservations?

None of these will require reservations far in advance. Even for Hukilau Lanai a day or two is usually sufficient. The really advanced reservations are usually recommended for the Beach House, which is VERY popular and somewhat limited in space. You may also need to reserve Tidepools, but I%26#39;m not sure about that.

Wow I am surprised at that - we were there Feb. 15th thru March 1 and we made our reservations that same day, never had a problem. Well actually the conceirge made the reservations for us! Wonder if that makes a difference. We are basically last minute people.

A good concierge can definitely get priority treatment for dinner reservations.

If you make a reservation for Tidepools, remember to specifically ask for a table by the water. We were so glad to be sitting at a table right by the water rather than at a table in the interior of the restaurant. We asked for a 5:30 reservation (their earliest seating) and arrived a bit early to ensure we got that table we requested :-)

We called a few days before and it was no problem getting the reservation. But we made reservations for Beach House over a month in advance. It never hurts to make them early if they allow it.
