Weaving Conference at KVR

I have reservations at KONA VILLAGE RESORT on May 14 and 15th. Just learned that the Ka Ulu Lauhala O Kona Weaving Conference will be held at KVR the same days. Can anyone tell me if my stay will be negatively affected by this? The resort is completely booked except for Royal. I%26#39;m worried there may be more hustle and bustle than I was anticipating or we may become second rate guests since we are not part of the conference. Thoughts??

Call them and ask them. I seriously doubt that a weaving conference would affect you in any way bur positively. But call their 800 number.

You know that might not be a bad thing.....all the guests for the conference will be off weaving somewhere leaving beach, pool, restaurant spaces pretty quiet.

You know that might not be a bad thing.....all the guests for the conference will be off weaving somewhere leaving beach, pool, restaurant spaces pretty quiet. Conceivably you could be on the beach enjoying a mai tai all by yourself!

There was a guy a number of years ago who brought a group of clients over to KVR for two or three years. Trouble is, he was loud and obnoxious, and his own group finally threw him into the pool. They didn%26#39;t come back after that.

I did call when I saw that they were booked for the dates. Jamie, I think I talked to, said all that was available was the royal category. I was actually hoping that maybe they would upgrade me to that...I know wishful thinking since I did the internet special prepaid....but I%26#39;m a dreamer which is why I want so much for the perfect experience. I didn%26#39;t think on the positive side of possibly less crowds at the pool/beach...I%26#39;ll focus on that rather than negative thoughts.

hiluv---if at all you experience a bad vibe when you get there, whip out your Trip Advisor hat, explain your problem, and ask management what they can do for you to resolve it (including upgrading you to Royal if that is necessary to get you away from loud and boisterous weavers :). Everything I%26#39;ve read about KVR is that they do want their guests to have a wonderful experience.

Let me reassure you, HILUV, less than Royal is still pretty damn good, and if there%26#39;s a conference, they%26#39;ll be busy most of the day, so the beach and the bar will be available. I%26#39;ve been there when it%26#39;s been full, and I%26#39;ve still had a very good time. Besides, we%26#39;re all family--don%26#39;t forget that!

Hiluv, I will be there on the 14th and leaving the 15th. Also, I have shared the village with the weavers for the last 2 years. They are not a wild group. They tend to keep to themselves. In addition, some have wonderful knowledge of the Islands and culture. The weavers are not a negative. Don%26#39;t worry about it.

Looking forward to meeting you. Look for some almost 60, semi-blond, about 6%26#39;2'; male who will be at the shipwreck bar about 4 pm.

Leaving for the Islands tomorrow.

BTW, the weavers generally generally stay in the pond standard hales, so don%26#39;t think that the whole village will be filled with weavers.

Finally, you will not be upgraded to Royale. It just doesn%26#39;t happen.
