Saffron Restaurant in Princeville

It%26#39;s Hawaii: It%26#39;s Kauai: It%26#39;s Princeville: of course it%26#39;s a little expensive (you are NOT in Kansas anymore %26amp; must be realistic). The food was authentic Meditteranean (we%26#39;ve been to Italy, Greece, %26amp; Spain), and believe us -- it%26#39;s authentic.

The food was outstanding; the service was stupendous; the atmosphere unbelievable; and the music...a smooth mix of live jazz %26amp; Internet jazz selections during intermission. Overall this made for an out-of-this-world ambiance that cannot be beat. Definitely a must restaurant to eat at while on Kauai. Tracy %26amp; Eric

Saffron Restaurant in Princeville

Trinity,

Nice to hear of a good review.

Just to confirm, is this the Old ';Beamreach'; Restaurant at Pali Ke Kua? I think the most recent tenent was call ';Sabellas';.

Saffron Restaurant in Princeville

Yes it is the same as the old Sabellas.

Very good review, but I have eaten there as well (a few times) and would not give it that high of a rating at all. Our service was not great (waiter did not bring our drinks we ordered from the bar to us for 10 minutes) and he wasn%26#39;t very attentive. The manager was wonderful though. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about. It is a restaurant in the middle of a parking lot within a condo complex. No view and the furnishings are the same from years ago. The night we went there was no music. I do think they had a CD going of light jazz. (this was in Feb)

I do agree the food was very, very good. Much better than I expected. Yes it is expensive and Tracy is right. Most nice places on Kauai are expensive. I%26#39;m not negating what Tracy and Eric%26#39;s experience was, I just don%26#39;t want people thinking they are eating at a 5 star restaurant. It is a good choice if you are staying in the Princeville area. It will be one of the only choices when Princeville Hotel closes for 9 months.

I will return to Saffrons I%26#39;m sure.

Jbett,

Thanks for a second opinion.

We have eaten at this location since 1985 when it was ';The Beamreach';. We stay at the Cliffs, so the location was very handy and I would like to see something there that is worth the evening.

Speaking of prices........match this......in 1985, at Bali Hai, we got a 3 course meal (salad, entree, dessert, plus coffee) for $10.00.

Those were the days of $1.00 gasoline too I%26#39;m afraid.

No more!
