Just Returned from Maui. My Brother in law and myself rented Harleys for a day (24 Hrs.) from ';Maui Harley-Davidson'; on Front St. In Lahina. The Bikes were 2008 Street Glides, nice bikes but NOT very well maintained. Cost was $160/day and opted for there insurance $25/day. We rode to Hana and back, a ride I will never forget. One big gripe I have is they run your credit card for a $2000.00 deposit and assure you it will be off your card within hours of the bikes return. That wasn%26#39;t the case for either of us My Bro. used his buisness debit card and had to go back there 5 days later to get them to fax his bank to get the charge off his account. My deposit stayed on my card for 7 full days, I know this because I have online banking and started checking it out after my Bro. had problems, I had plenty of credit available so no real problem for me, but I can see this as being a BIG problem for some people. Lesson learned: Think twice about putting large security deposits on your card, especially if you need that money (credit) for your trip.
Maui Harley Davidson Rental In Lahina BEWARE
For anyone else looking for Harleys in Maui, last year we rented from Hula Hogs in Kihei, they only charged $200 for a deposit. This is what I said about them in my trip report';
Hula Hogs
The Hula Hogs “store front” is a little cave in one of the shopping centers. Steve, the guy working there that day was very friendly and also volunteered that if we were not done after hour 6 hour rental, not to hurry back, just get it back when we could and not to worry about it. In fact, when we were riding back to return it (about 30 minutes late) we saw him riding the other direction on the freeway. We called when we got there and he just had us give the key to the shop next door… very nice experience and cool folks to deal with.
