Family of 5 accommodation

Hi Team, don%26#39;t you just love this site. I think I%26#39;m becoming addicted!!! Anyway, our family (2 adults 3 children) are heading to Hawaii for 4 nights late August yet we are finding it very hard to get accommodation in one room for five. We are keen to stay either in Waikiki and/or the North Shore. Some accommodation have kitchenettes (which is a great advantage and a preference) however we are generally being told we need two rooms which doubles our costs. We are on a budget ($200/night max)and are certainly OK with lower cost budget rooms etc. Thanks for all your help. %26#39;Love ya work%26#39;!! Mick

hi grizwalds

if you%26#39;re ok with budget accomodations then in waikiki look into the royal grove hotel look at the reviews on t/a.it is older and not fancy but clean and only half a block to beach.i%26#39;m not sure how many they will aloow in 1 room but you could gst 2 and still be under your 200.00 limit, also look into condos resortquest has the waikiki banyan and the waikiki sunset.

north shore look into ke iki beach bungalows they have ones with 2 bedrooms it is right on the beach but a little more than 200.00 a night.not as much too choose from on the north shore and the turtle bay resort is expensive although there is a condo complex too look on vrbo.com not sure of prices.

the royal grove and ke iki both fill up fast.we stayed at the royal grove last october and reaaly enjoyed it we are going back this sept for 8 more days.

i am taking my daughter in may 2009 a just the girls trip we are going for 2 weeks 4 days in kaikua 3 days at ke iki beach bungalows and one week at the royal grove.

i had to go ahead and reserve ke iki now cause they we%26#39;re almost full and this is a year away crazy we are staying in the gardenia bungalow.

you%26#39;re right this site is addicting and so is hawaii!!

You should be able to find something on vrbo.com, but your budget is quite low.

my sister and friend and i stayed one night in royal grove hotel after checking out of Ko Olina just now april 13th. It was great! such nice people, great balcony with ocean view, double bed, single bed, full fridge, small stove/oven, micro etc. Not fancy but clean and only $87 night. Amazing!

Also i have a friend who has rented thru vrbo and got an apartment with one bedroom sleeps 5 for about $100 night. Neqr beach, they are going in May. will report how that is!

We also spend one night on the way in before heading for Ko Olina at the Gateway Hotel, also close to beach,(couple blocks) that was a nice room, two double beds for $90 a night. No kitchen but clean and very nice staff also.

good luck

Check www.vrbo.com

Usually they want 5 nights or more, but you might find something.

Resortquest Waikiki Banyan (1bdrm) %26amp; Resortquest Waikiki Sunset 1,2 bdrm) are two decent condos. Many times Resortquest has 4th night free.

We are going to stay in the following place from may 7-14:

www.a1vacations.com/rental-home/p214590 .

Go check it out, it is a 2 bedroom beach house and rents for $200 a night. I will post when we return to let everyone know how the place was.

The reason most places are telling you that you need two rooms is the fire code, 4 to a room and age doesn%26#39;t matter, newborns to centurians count. Hopefully one of the suggestions will work out for you.

I echo the Royal Grove, another one that is just kitty-corner from the Grove is Waikiki Prince. Two rooms would still be under budget.

Both of these places have kitchenettes and the people working there have been so nice and helpful.
