This may sound dumb to some, but I try to pack with plans not to bring everything back home. i.e., buy beach towels on clearance, shorts that fit the kids this year, but not next, etc. The idea is to leave behind what we can and take home souvenirs instead. Is there a local charity/thrift store that can take these extras? We have done it in Oahu and Maui. I can find only one listing in the Kona area, and it appears to be more of a second-hand store. Any suggestions, or just take it back home?
Mahalo.

Local Kona thrift store?
There is a Thrift Shop in the Old Industrial area, just off the highway and there is another one at the Kona Outdoor Circle, right on the highway just before Lako Street. You can also drop off donations at the West Hawaii Support Services right in town just off Alii Drive (75-127 Lunapule Road).
Local Kona thrift store?
Thanks TT! Should have just pm%26#39;d you to start with.
You could also donate it to a church should you not be able to find a thrift shop. There are several thrift shops in Waimea - St. James thrift shop is across from the big park in the little green and white buildings as well as the Salvation Army thrift shop which is behind the Napa store on the Hilo side of town.
Great idea!!! I don%26#39;t think it sounds dumb at all--
it is a win-win for everyone. Have a great vacation!
