Sealodge Unit Question - Which One?

Ok, this goes out to folks who have stayed at the Sealodge recently. I read about 40 of the 60 reviews so far, and in most of them, people say, unit XX is the best unit to stay in. I%26#39;m thinking for the most part, I can not go wrong... with a few exceptions :-)

I know we want top (3rd?) floor... would have liked AC, but I can not find a top floor condo with AC.

Which building is:

A) Most secluded?

B) Best view (if such a thing)

C) Closest to beach path

D) Overall most appealing (I know this is subjective)

Anything else we should consider?

Sealodge Unit Question - Which One?

Just spent 12 days in C8 and wish we could buy it. Top floor, wonderful views from every window, close to path down to Sealodge Beach, recently improved...very well equipped with everything we needed...no AC but you really don%26#39;t need it as the trade winds blow through all the time and it%26#39;s very comfortable with the windows open. We hope to return to the same unit next year.

Sealodge Unit Question - Which One?

D-7 is a top floor unit w/A/C--but is often booked early on-- the other unit w/A/C I know of is D-4 (which is not top floor obviously). Since A/C is in the minority--you may have to compromise. There are plenty of nice, renovated units available w/o A/C. Google for a map of the complex--I believe there is one on the hestra website...

sorry, typo. That should read Hestara website.

Depending on when you are traveling, A/C might not be needed. Sealodge units vary greatly. Just ask the rental agency or owner when they updated. To me this makes a big difference.

Hey, thanks for the great replies, we are planning for June 09 and would only need a 1 bed room.

I can not tell which building is closer to the beach path (is that a good thing?). Looks like all the condo%26#39;s have great views.

Thanks seaspirit, I%26#39;ll put C8 on my list, good to see SLO is alive and kicking.

Thanks everyone, and if anyone else has any favorites, I%26#39;d love to head about them.

No, they do not all have good views--some sit farther back than others (bldgs) and A bldg lower floors have little view at all (by the way, A bldg is nearest the beach path but none are that far away.)

Here is the complex layout as far as bldgs go--the unit numbers are harder to read. Ask lots of ?%26#39;s of owner to find out unit direction, recent remodel, etc.--at least from map you can tell which bldgs. are closer to the water.

I wouldn%26#39;t worry about being close to the beach path. It%26#39;s a pretty good trek from the path to the beach. you can%26#39;t really bring down the cooler, chairs and umbrella easily as you should try to have both hands free just in case in a couple of spots.

The reef there is also too shallow to really enjoy swimming / snorkeling unless it%26#39;s high enough tide.

but don%26#39;t get me wrong, Sealodge beach is beautiful and secluded, and the path leading down to the beach is a wonderful little hike when it%26#39;s fairly dry.

Go to www.wizardpub.com and follow through to Kauai and then select Sealodge and it gives you a good photo of how the buildings are laid out. I believe building A is closest to the beach path (I may be wrong about this) but it%26#39;s also farthest from the parking lot and I don%26#39;t think the views are as good in building A.

We stayed in E-7 last September. The buildings are set up nicely so you really don%26#39;t get a view into others condos and with the view of the ocean, who wants to look at anything else. We faced Kileuea point with the lighthouse and could watch windsurfers from %26#39;Anini beach. The condo was not airconditioned but if we closed up the shades before we left for the day and opened up and turned on the fans when we got back, it was fine.

Aloha,

Sealodge is not that big a complex so don%26#39;t worry about proximity to the beach path that much. All do NOT have equal views but, as I previously said, C8 does as you will see from pics at Hestara website, C8 does from every room. I was told that the top unit in A is quite good also. The way Sealodge is laid out, units are fairly private except for ground floor where people may walk right past your window...not so good since you will keep your curtains/windows open all the time!

Yes, SLO is alive and well although I actually live in Morro Bay, work in SLO.
